Question by : What do you think of part of my story?
Darren shifted his eyes towards Natalie and then pointed upward. James looked up and saw a beautifully decorated mistletoe hanging above their heads. James gave Darren a knowing smirk before turning to Natalie. They had been friends since last year of freshman year. He had thought she was gorgeous since he first saw her. He had kissed her a couple of times, but only in a friendly peck kind of way. But for some reason he was feeling a little bold.
“Hey, how about a little kiss for the old Christmas tradition?”
Of course he was planning on it to be a joke, but Natalie had a strange smile on her face after he had said that. Natasha and the girls arched their eyebrows and Beverlee stopped dancing with Darren to eavesdrop.
“Well,” she giggled, leaning closer to Jame’s face. “I don’t wanna break Christmas tradition.”
And she gave him a small, three-second peck on the lips. Even though it wasn’t that long, it still had it’s affect. He gave Darren a look that said “what the heck?” while Darren just smiled conspiratorially.
“There’s some extra pants in the room; if you need any.” Kasey DiMaggio said sardonically.
“Yeah, shut up,” James dismissed, keeping his eye on Natalie who was now talking pictures with Beverlee.
He could still feel the sensation of her soft lips spontaneous touch his. That was something he didn’t see coming. He still remembered every single detail when he had almost kissed Natalie the year before. They were in his dorm analyzing Invisible Man for their ten page essay on the novel. Natalie was ranting about how she hated reading The Scarlette Letter her sophomore year of high school while James complained about the ending to The Call of the Wild making him tear up.
“Really?” Natalie asked, looking intently at him with those almond shaped ebony eyes. “You honestly cried?”
“Well, not cried, just got teary.” laughed James. “Mind you, I was fourteen.”
“It’s okay.” she smiled. “I was raining a fountain from my eyes. The whole story stays with you forever. It’s my all time favorite. I can read it over and over again and still enjoy it.”
“It’s an epic book.”
“You know what book I read in the tenth grade that I absolutely hated?”
“What?”
“The Scarlett Letter.”
James nodded. “Yeah, it didn’t appeal to me.”
“I mean, the storyline and the character development was excellent, I sympathized with Hester Prynne, but the writing style was irritating. Details after details. It was like hearing my own language through the ears of a foreigner who’s not fluent in English.”
“I did a happy dance when we finished the book.” said James. “The ending was the best part of the book.”
“It’s not a bad book.” Natalie said. “I can see why many people would love it, but I just hated how it was written. It was difficult to understand.”
“But we agree that The Call of the Wild is a great American novel.”
“Oh, well, of course.” chuckled Natalie.
James didn’t notice this, but Natalie kept inching closer him as each minute passed.
“Okay, let’s get back to the book we’re discussing about.” said James, turning back to the computer screen. “Ever thought that The Invisible Man was an adaptation of Invisible Man?”
“Yeah, until I read it.” Natalie stated, and then burst out laughing. “I don’t mean to be cliche, but the book was deep. I mean, really deep. It was like, I got the story and I understood what was going on, but it literally got my brain charged up. It gets you thinking. It’s another one of my favorites.”
“I really liked it too. I thought I was going to hate it because it seemed like one of those ’smart people’ books, but it wasn’t.”
“You’re a little judgmental.” Natalie said. “It seems like if you don’t understand something, you turn it off because your mind has already made up the assumption of that something. Even when you haven’t gotten the chance to experience or learn about it. I used to be like that.”
“I can’t imagine you being like that at all. You seem ready for change.”
“No, I hate change!” quipped Natalie. “It’s annoying. I used to always try to be different from other people by liking things no one normally liked while at the same time distancing myself from mainstream.”
“I know what you mean.” he said, placing a hand on hers. “I always thought that ‘mainstream’ was a definition of conformist ideas that were praised by pretentious idiots who do nothing but watch reality TV all day.”
Natalie looked at him and smiled sheepishly. “Would you call me a pretentious idiot if I said I like Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

Question by Arron: I need help in the supernatural.!!!.?
Okay, so I posted a question several weeks ago asking u guys what u thought about the spirit man i saw in my room. I got a good answer, but now I need more help. My 2 year old nephew is staying with me and has enjoyed living with me for a month now, until the other night when he went upto my room. There is me, my dad, my dads girlfriend and her daughter and her husband staying with us (I know, lots of people) and then there is my 2 nephews, 2 yrs and 1 yr. Anyway, wewere all downstairs in the livingroom and the house is 3 stories tall and as we were watching TV my 2 year oldnephew wandered upstairswithout us noticing. he must of been up there for 5 minutes until we realized. I was sent up to get him but before I could get up he ran into the room crying and shouting “MAN!!! MAN!!!” He was holding his armand when his mum looked there was a wierd shaped bruise. Sure, he could have walked into something, but he was shouting man over and over again and I need to know, can ghosts physically hurt people?!?!?!

Best answer:

Answer by Sasha
Do dragons hurt people? Do werewolves or vampires?

NO BECAUSE THEY DO NOT EXIST.

Nor do ghosts, sorry.

It can be comforting to think that people are floating about looking after you. Me personally, I think that is the biggest waste of dying. What would be the point of dying if we just floated back to keep an eye on this place? Or to put bruises on little boys? Good Grief.

Question by Dolkite: How do I deal with a gender identity problem? I look very masculine yet I don’t like being seen that way.?

Question by Dolkite: How do I deal with a gender identity problem? I look very masculine yet I don’t like being seen that way.?
I have a major issue with my looks. I’m 6′3″, broad shouldered, around 235, and bald. Most people don’t understand why I hate this, and I rarely tell them the real reason.

I hate how I look because it’s entirely masculine. I hate that I’m taller than most people, I resent the fact that I started losing my hair at age 17, and that while I’m not in super shape, it’s not uncommon for someone (often just some panhandler buttering me up for money) to ask if I played football or call me “Big man”. In my darker times, I refer to myself as being “ugly” although I know it’s not true….I’m just the opposite of what I want to be.

I’m posting pics just to show the contrast between who I am and who I wish I could be.

http://s385.photobucket.com/albums/oo296/curseofdolkite/

My GI problem is not a sexual issue…I don’t desire to have female organs and I’m heterosexual. I admit that in a perfect world, I’d rather be female. However, that’s obviously not going to happen, so I’m willing (like it matters) to compromise if I could just not be seen as an overtly masculine guy, I’m just frustrated because I know there is no way I’m ever going to be seen as anything but a masculine guy, the opposite of what I want. I could even deal with being male if I wasn’t so overtly masculine and the (few) women I attracted weren’t looking for the sort of big, strong, protective “manly man” type. I know they didn’t realize how their comments affected me, but hearing a female say things like “I love how small I feel next to you” were heartbreaking for me because I took it the way a female would….most females don’t want to be seen as big and burly.

I’m really at a loss here. I mean, I care about how I look and yet I’m unmotivated even to get in shape and do the best I can with what I’ve been given because I don’t want to seem like I actively am striving to fulfill that big tough bald bouncer type image that’s so popular with men now.

Anyway, I don’t know if this answer is going to inspire a lot of rude comments or if anyone will even have anything meaningful to say beyond token responses like “Get therapy” or “Stop caring what you look like”.

Also, PLEASE read my question. Some people click on the link to my pic and then write “What’s the big deal, you’re not ugly” or “Lots of girls dig big guys”. My question is not “Am I good looking?”, it’s how do I cope with having a body that’s the exact opposite of what I wish I could be.
rue – I don’t believe in prayer. I’m an atheist.

Best answer:

Answer by mermaid muncher
I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but I really think seeing a gay/trans friendly therapist would be a good idea. You should also try joining a rainbow or trans support group. If you don’t want to get the surgery, you may consider hormone replacement therapy to give yourself a more feminine look.

The last two girls I dated were 6′5″ and 6′2″. It backfired….both were overjoyed to find a guy big enough to overpower them and make them seem not so big, and both of them wanted a guy to dominate them even more than when I dated girls who were less than five feet tall.

Best answer:

Answer by ramona14
Although it might sound hard, tell people when you meet them (especially if you are pursuing a relationship), that you wish you were different. As much as I would tell you to appreciate what you have, I understand that you want to be different, or more want to be accepted differently. So when you find a girl, tell her that looks are deceiving.
Popularity in looks is NOT what the genuine women look for. You might think so, but in reality, all we want is a guy who is confident.
You should care about your appearance, and you should also be happy. I’m sorry that you have a hang-up about how you’re formed; I think that you must have a reason why you don’t like how you are. When you figure that out, then you can work on it.
I’m not gonna write paragraphs, so if you want a detailed, informal chat – email me.

My friend has been living there the past 2 years. He’s a student at UCLA. And well he loves it out there and wants me to move in with him. I never doubted him, he never steered me wrong. We have known each other literally since 1st grade. He loves it over there and he keeps saying “you have no idea what your missing, get your ass here man”. But I want to know from people who have lived there for more than 2 years. ha ha. What’s it like?. California in general is in such bad shape, I just have this feeling I’m going to go out there and just come right back. IDK. …HELP! by the way, I’m from D.C, so it’s not like I’m in Oregon or something, like up the coast NO, I’m on the other side of the country. I’m such a hike away!

Best answer:

Answer by Obviousman
Well, you have one advantage that most people don’t have: Someone who is already established out here. The economy is pretty bad, but if you have some good skills and a good resume, you can make a go of it. Don’t let the distance here bother you. Come out for a visit, and see what you think.

I am a 3rd generation American, raised soley by my mother(in a very strict Irish Catholic household) here in New York City(trust me sex, liqour and bad things were all around in my neighborhood). Anyway, I consider myself a good looking guy in a decent shape (6′2 195 lbs), i did have a few chances to get laid, i took my mothers advice and i wanted to WAIT for the right girl for my first time, even if it takes up until marriage i do not care… i know i will get bashed and called a weirdo, for not having sex when i could’ve had the chance, but think about it, doesn’t that make you have more self control and in the end “the bigger man”? I’m proud of moral and religious values. I’m sure my future wife will be too.

Best answer:

Answer by Bleu Clues~
No. I am 19 and still a virgin.

It’s good to have self control. Most people who do not have self control end up getting themselves in trouble.

Question by ♥Livin in dis place called Life♥: How can I fix my low self esteem for me and mostly my relationship?
I have a boy friend that I love with all my heart but my self esteem has always been low, even when we got together but I will never let him know that. For example, His older brother talks to my aunt (who every man is attracted to) and my boyfriend called her looking for his brother and they started talking and I got jealous and he knew I was mad so he hung up. I be thinking that he will leave me for someone who look better than me and sometimes I feel so ugly. He doesn’t know that and it hurts me sometimes because I want to be that girl with the high self esteem. I admire my aunt because she is like that and everyone likes her and I want to be like her. She has a perfect personality, nice shape, and everything else a man could want. I want to be like that. I try to tell myself I am beautiful because my boyfriend tells me that all the time but it doesn’t work. I don’t like my body and nothing else about myself. I WANT TO BE THE GIRL THAT SAYS “I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT ANY GIRL TAKING MY MAN”.
I want to fix this problem without a therapist. There are no therapists where I live.
And when I said my aunt had a good body. Its because of her big butt and little waist. I don’t have a very big butt or a little waist.

Question by dogluva: My dad won’t take me to Irish Dance anymore. ?
I have been dancing for about a year and my dad was so nice in driving me an hour (both ways) for that time. I really appreciated it.

It was always hard. Once a month my dad would have a meeting on the same day as my dance lesson. My mom would occasionally take me on those days. It was always a hassle for them because they both worked and had to take off to take me there. They really have told me that they can’t just take off from work and leave anymore.

Anyway, I used to get so behind and would go sometimes several months without a lesson. I would spend the entire time trying to get caught up, and the ADCRG wouldn’t understand why I didn’t understand what was going on because she only could come to class once a month (she is ADCRG leader of several McTeggart schools). Communication was never good. The school would send us tons of emails that got forwarded to all the parents. My parents couldn’t keep up with them all and neither could I. at least 4 times we drove all the way there and found that it wasn’t going on that day. It was a pain.

I only have been to one feis and I loved it. I did very well for my first time. I placed in all of my dances but only advanced in one dance because of the lack of participants. (I was 14 and about to be 15)

But now it has been months since I’ve last been to Mcteggart. My dad avoids talking about irish dance these days and tries to explain to me that its so hard taking me (driving 2 hours for 1 hour of dancing on dangerous roads). I would drive myself when I am able but my father and my mother have both said that its not safe. I have to agree.. there are many white crosses alongside those roads. I understand.. it was a huge undertaking.

I understand it. I really do. It really was the only thing I could do that was a social activity because my town is small and limited and there are really no activities that you can participate in if you don’t start young. Its simply to awkward and there are literally no beginner levels for my age group for anything. And the worst part – NO irish dance classes. It was the only social, excersize activity that I could do. I was never good at any other dancing (I guess I can’t work both feet AND arms at the same time.. to much coordination involved ). I do art, but obviously thats not going to keep me in shape. And its really hard to excersize on my own with school.

Emotionally I am not okay with quiting ID. I felt so drawn to it 4 years ago when my Aunt was “Irish Man” of the year and I first saw them in the San Antonio parade. I went to the parade 3 times. Each time I renewed my love and desire to participate in ID. Each time I tried to find schools that were near my town. Finally I got to attend summer camp with the Irish Dance school in SA with the school that my aunt was affiliated with. I loved it I found. But SA was 3 hours from my home. So I had to go to a school that was an hour away, even though I always wanted to be at the SA school. I loved the dancing classes while they lasted. It was like my escape. (sooo corny, I know). I try to tell myself its time to quite. I try to tell myself that it is too much of a burden and I’m going nowhere with it. But I can’t get over it. Its pathetic. I can’t move on. Every time I hear one of my irish dancing songs on my ipod, I think of it and I wish I was still dancing. Its terrible.

I don’t know how to move on even if that is whats best for me. I know you think I sound like a freak. I just have excepted the fact that my parents can’t take me there anymore. I’m not going to push it anymore. I’m really crying as I write this. I’m an emotional unhappy camper.

I’m sorry to be such a downer on this board. I guess I just need some advice
I am struggling to replace ID with something as good as it is. But its really hard in this extremely limited, close-minded town. All the sports I feel I am too old to participate in because everyone has been playing for years and I moved here when I was 6 but at the time never had interest in the sports. My parents signed me up for things when I was younger.. I made it to middle school.. tried out for teams and never made it. I was criticized for being too thin and not muscular. I gave up then.

Do you have any advice? I’m really sorry for this long thread post. I’m just venting right now. I would really appreciate any life coaching lol and any opinions. I think thats all I need – someone to talk to me who’s also into Irish Dance.

Best answer:

Answer by SophisticatedSpinster
I’m just throwing this one out there – could you not live with your Aunt? I gather that she has the connections that you need to continue your studies.

I realise that this is a very tough decision for the family to make. But my mother did it – she moved in with her great aunts when she was your age, the deal being that she maintain high marks at school (which she did).

It may be a long shot but I figure I should voice that as an option.
