Could I go far in Basketball?
Question by : Could I go far in Basketball?
Hey everyone. So I’m just a 14 year old kid, I’m 5′10 1/2 and 150 pounds. I’m pretty fast, and I can touch rim on some jumps. However, I feel like I am different from other kids, I love the game of basketball.. I always want to play more, when I come home from the gym after 4-5 hours of basketball every day, I still go outside and dribble and play more. Even now as I sit on the computer I want to have something to do with basketball, so I can get better in every way shape and form. I have a passion for this sport, I have played basketball seriously for only 1 YEAR, and I am already better than 95 % of kids my age. As I player I usually play with adults at the gym who all tell me “good job” “nice shot” or “good work man” and I’ve had a few come up to me and ask my age or say I could play college ball if I keep it up. I practice every day, I’m a great shooter, a good dribbler for my height, I can rebound, I hustle on every play, I can pass the ball, I love driving (however I need to work on driving with my left hand) and I’m good at faking out the opposing player. Could I go far in basketball? I spend a lot of time and I will most likely start practicing even more than I already do… could I play college? Thanks guys

Theres only one way to find out, try out for your schools team. See how you do.
I mean not trying to be rude, but how are we suppose to answer this unless you show us some clips or stats or something, cause all youve given us to work with is the fact that other people give you compliments.
This question is pretty much asking “Hi guys, im really good at basketball and everyone tells me Im really good, do you think im really good?”
lol

Seems like you really want to hear that you are good
You should really let your playing do the talking, everybody gets compliments a lot.
Even when i sucked pretty bad, when i would play with adults, they thought i was good because of my young age.
So just put in work, don’t give a fuck what others say.
If you gonna be in the NBA, you got to learn to not care what other people think. What if LeBron cared what other people thought?
Just work on your game
95% … It takes more than 1 serious year of basketball to become better than 95% better than the kids your age… I think that sure if you practice like you do in you’re schedule you should have a legitimate of making a college team but first worry about making the high school team and varsity before college. Also you need to be able to drive with your left hand if your not super tall. I think you should see what happens with high school and then worry about college. Also most people think that all you need to do to get into a basketball team is play basketball… you also have to meet the minimum grade requirement for the basketball team there are so many people who could be great in a college team but can’t make the grade. I can’t really tell you if you’ll make it by the details you give but this was the best I could do. To summarize, it’s not gonna be easy but if you work hard you have a great chance,
Good Luck.
Try out for your teams basketball team
You sound like a beast lol. keep working at it!!
your as good as you believe. if you want to play in the nba YOU have to believe
it sounds like you do:) thats good bc basketball takes
1%skill and 99% mind. if you go out and work hard you can be the best
but first thing first believe, dream, and imagine.
NEVER SAY NEVER
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. If your that passionate about the game and you have to be willing to put in as much practice as you can because each time you’re not practicing there’s someone else that’s practicing. Don’t worry about what people tell you. Don’t fall into the hype. You have to have the mind set that you know you are good. In your mind you want to strive to be the best player ever no matter what anyone tells you. So you’re 5′10. I’m guessing that you play the point guard position. If you’re playing the point guard position the main things you should focus on are protecting the basketball, getting your teammates involved, and learning to read a pick and roll situation. Since you’re good at driving to the basket instead of trying to score most of the time look for an open teammate. This should be easy because when you drive to the basket you are gonna attract the defense like flies.Develop a floater down the lane. If your left hand is weak try working on it. Try bring the ball up court with your left hand when you play, dribble the ball and have someone else try to steal it from you, practice your jumper with your left hand. When you’re not on the court study some tape of players at your position. For you I would say John Stockton, Steve Nash, Chris Paul. Tryout for your school’s team. Give it all you have when you tryout. If you get cut ask the head coach what you need to work on. If you make the team learn the offense. Be the 1st one at practice practicing your game and the last one to leave practice practicing your game. Practice before your basketball games and practice after your basketball games. Good Luck
